Privacy & Cookies
This policy explains what data is collected when you visit this site and how it is used.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Justin Waugh. If you have questions about how your data is handled, you can reach out via the contact details on the About page.
What data is collected and why
This site does not collect personal data directly. Where cookies and analytics tools are used, they are loaded only after you have given consent. The table below lists all cookies that may be set.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use three categories:
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Necessary | Stores your cookie preference so the banner is not shown on every visit. | Until cleared | This site (localStorage) |
theme | Necessary | Remembers your light/dark theme preference. | Until cleared | This site (localStorage) |
_ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Used by Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to distinguish visitors and measure site usage. | 2 years | |
_gcl_* | Marketing | Google Ads conversion tracking. No marketing tags are currently active; this cookie would only be set if a marketing campaign is configured in the future. | 90 days |
Analytics cookies are only set if you accept the Analytics category. This site uses Google Consent Mode v2, which means Google Analytics is loaded but restricted from collecting personal data until consent is granted. When you decline, Google uses only aggregate, cookieless modelling for basic traffic insights.
Google Tag Manager
This site uses Google Tag Manager to manage analytics and marketing tags in one place. GTM itself does not collect personal data — it is a container that controls which tags run, subject to your consent choices.
Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have the right to:
- Know what personal data is held about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (see below)
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Because analytics are only active with your consent and no account system exists on this site, there is generally no personal data held beyond what Google Analytics may collect (subject to your consent).
Change your preferences
You can update your cookie preferences at any time. Your current choices are stored in your browser and can be cleared below.
